Seriously? It must be super Shea butter

East_african_dec_2007_final_smallI’ve created a new category for products that leave me speechless: Seriously?

A month ago I received an email from Planet Botanicals pitching their Organic Face Balm. Just tonight did I check out the site and how shocked was I to see this 1 oz shea butter selling for $32 bucks.

Seriously? Ya’ll know I love shea butter. I imported shea butter when I had my company, so not only do I love it, but I know it.

Nilotica shea butter is sourced from Northern Uganda. This butter is considered rare because there’s always some tribal fighting going on making it hit or miss for delivery and according to The Shea Project, it’s also genetically unique when compared to West African shea. It’s rich, creamy and not as fragrantly nutty. But $32 bucks an ounce for something that averages about $15 bucks A POUND?

Seriously? If you want this extra creamy shea butter (and if you like shea, I do recommend trying the East African butter when you can) save yourself some money and get a lot more shea by shopping at Shea Terra Organics.

They offer a 6 oz jar of this rare shea butter for just $14. Seriously.
